Open-cockpit classes require that the nose of the boat needs to be bright yellow. In closed-canopy classes, the nose needs to be bright orange. These highly visible tones exist to draw attention to a potential accident—a sinking boat's center of gravity makes it so that its nose will always be last to go underwater. The number of pilots on board is also displayed on the yellow nose, and is there to inform rescue teams how many racers might be trapped inside a cockpit. Safety first!

The "meca-quartz" hybrid chronograph marries battery-based and mechanical watchmaking. The timekeeping base movement is quartz which makes it shockproof for offshore races with impacts up to 12G, the chronometry start and stop resets are springloaded (mechanical).

The solid 316 brushed stainless-steel case, the screwed-in, 2-mm thick caseback, the 8 mm-diameter crown coupled with fat 5.5-mm, screw-in pushers and high-quality gaskets make for water resistance up to 30 atm (300m, or 1000ft), as individually tested.

The caseback features the world champion's "LOSING STARTS WITH SECOND PLACE" engraving and a progressive, individual number. The watch is covered by a 24-month worldwide warranty and is part of a unique edition of 30 pieces.

It comes on a yellow TPU two-piece strap with black DLC brushed stainless-steel hardware signed UNIMATIC.

Timing accuracy is guaranteed by the VK64 mech-quartz movement tuned to 32,768 Hz for 3 years or battery life, with 1/5-of-a-second indication plus a 60-minute counter.
