DÉRIVE, a pioneering Augmented Reality (AR) art and communication platform, announces its launch, redefining the electric vehicle (EV) charging experience. Tailored for the future of e-mobility, DÉRIVE transforms idle charging time into immersive, artistic, and interactive moments.

A New Vision for E-Mobility Founded by Chris Kippenberger (Studio Kippenberger, Publisher of VÉHICULE), Prof. Nik Hafermaas, and Rico Zocher (Graft Brandlab), DÉRIVE addresses a gap in the EV ecosystem. “Charging an electric car is exciting, but the 20-minute wait at a supercharger is not,” says Kippenberger. “We saw an opportunity to create unforgettable experiences for drivers and businesses alike.”

DÉRIVE’s pilot project, launched at Berlin’s EUREF-Campus in collaboration with Effekt-Etage Berlin, allows EV drivers to dive into a spectacular AR world while charging. The platform showcases curated art and premium products, such as the exclusive, handcrafted Kurland Coffee-to-Drive Mug designed by Königliche Porzellanmanufaktur (KPM) Berlin.

How DÉRIVE Works At charging stations, oversized DÉRIVE signs with QR codes invite drivers to access the AR space via smartphone or tablet. This immersive environment supports artistic installations, product placements, services, and interactive content, with an Instagram-based feedback channel for engagement. “We’re pioneering a new way to connect with EV drivers,” says Hafermaas. “Our platform blends technology and human experience seamlessly.

Unlike traditional advertising, DÉRIVE offers a revolutionary, art-driven platform that elevates brand communication while enhancing the charging experience.

A Bold Vision for the Future DÉRIVE aims to establish AR as a global communication platform at EV charging points, curating holistic experiences that transcend conventional marketing.
